This week is National Library Week, a celebration of libraries and the services they provide to the community. Locally, St. Clair County libraries will be holding different activities and giveaways based on the days theme. The week starts with Teen Day at the Main Library in downtown Port Huron. If you’re a teen stop in a get a free gift and check out all that your local library has to offer. The next day will be Kids’ Day, featuring a coloring contest and of course a small token of appreciation from the St. Clair County Library. If you haven’t stopped by the Main Library in Port Huron in a while, you’ll be amazed a what your local library has to offer. Late fees may soon be a thing of the past as E-Books become more and more popular. With your library card you can check out up to 8 E-books each month, as well as have access to audio books and digital magazines through the libraries hoopla app, without ever leaving your home. Mike Mercatante with Community Relations for the St. Clair County Library System says with your library card you also have access to all the books in system, not just whats available at individual branches. They can even have books sent from other library systems in the country through a mutual agreement.
