Local students visit Capitol with Pavlov

Local elementary school students took their oaths of office in Lansing this past week during a mock swearing in ceremony hosted by local State Senator Phil Pavlov. The first through fifth graders were winners in an annual summer reading contest held by Pavlov. Ten winners were selected out of nearly 300 who entered. The students received a tour of the 139-year old capitol building and debated a hypothetical bill regarding mandatory school uniforms. The contest is open to all elementary school students in the 25th district, which includes St. Clair, Sanilac, Huron, and portions of Macomb County.
