Legislation allowing concealed weapons in schools and other ‘gun free zones’ introduced by a local State Senator is raising the eyebrows of school officials. The Michigan Association of School Boards and the Michigan Education Association have come out in opposition to the bill, which passed the Senate last week. Pavlov, speaking to WPHM’s Paul Miller, says he believes it would make schools safer. He also says schools would still be able to ban adult students and employees from carrying handguns. Pavlov adds the bill includes additional training for concealed weapon holders, which would to equate to four extra hours of classroom sessions. Governor Snyder vetoed similar legislation in 2012.
