Cain addresses State of the District

The successes and challenges of the past school year being addressed by Port Huron Schools superintendent Jamie Cain yesterday morning at an annual “State of the District” presentation. Cain updated the public on the status of the district’s capital improvement project facilitated by a bond proposal that was passed by voters in 2016. He also discussed more details about the district’s plans of Cleveland and Woodrow Wilson Elementary Schools., which will become “Sister Schools” this fall. Cain, speaking to WPHM at yesterday’s event, says Cleveland and Woodrow Wilson schools will be combined. Cleveland will be a K-2 campus focused on reading and writing, and grades 3-through-five will be taught at Wilson. Cain also addressed the per-pupil state funding for Port Huron Schools, calling on legislators to increase the amount of funding for public school districts.
