The City of Port Huron is taking some initiatives to help alleviate some parking issues in Downtown Port Huron. As of Monday April 2nd, the City of Port Huron will be enforcing permit and three hour parking zones in city parking lots. Those affected lots include East and West Quay Streets, the Majestic Lot, and the Michigan Street Lot. City Manager James Freed claims Downtown Port Huron has 5,000 parking spots, saying there is not a lack of spots, but rather, a lack of enforcement. Warning notices will be issued for the next several days, and those parking in the restricted zones will face a $20-dollar fine starting Monday the 9th. Freed also says there will be four designated kayak trailer parking spots in the West Quay Street lot, as well as extended parking areas for users of the kayak launch.
