Ahead of a busy road construction season, MDOT, safety experts and police are urging drivers to use extra care traveling through work zones. As part of an awareness-raising campaign, people are being asked to wear orange this Wednesday in support of those working in road construction zones. Last year in Michigan, there were over 4200 work zone crashes with 25 fatalities, up from 18 the previous year. There were also 73 serious injuries last year. Locally, road construction projects are gearing up, with work starting this week at the intersection of 10th avenue and Pine Grove in the City of Port Huron.
