A Saginaw based railroad is looking to take over operations of section of railroad line in Port Huron and Port Huron Township. In a notice filed with the Surface Transportation Board Friday, Lake State Railway intends to lease a four mile section of track from Griswold Road to Dunn Paper near the Blue Water Bridge. The rail line is currently owned by Canadian National, who will retain ownership of the Black River drawbridge near Water Street. Lake State Railway does not intend to hire additional employees and plans to begin operations in June of 2018.
