Suspect in police officer murder formally charged

The man suspected of killing off duty Port Huron Police Lieutenant Joel Wood has been arraigned. 30 year old Joshua Michael Bauman of Mount Morris is charged with degree murder, home invasion, felony firearms, and assault with intent to murder charges. He is believed to have shot and killed Wood Friday morning while he was visiting a 29 year old woman’s apartment in the 4700 block of Atkins Road in Clyde Township. The woman was shot and injured, and then ran to a 57 year old neighbor’s house where he was also shot and injured. Both are recovering from their injuries. Police were able to track Bauman to a gas station in Southfield where he was arrested around 5am Friday. Bauman was denied bond and is being housed in the St. Clair County Jail. His next court date is a probable cause hearing, scheduled for September 4th at 9:00 a.m. in 72nd District Court.
