Several grams of a deadly opioid have been seized in a Lapeer County drug bust earlier this week. A Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over an erratic driver near the intersection of Lake Pleasant and Newark Roads in Attica Monday afternoon. The driver, a 57 year old Oakland County man, stated he was attempting to avoid potholes. A field sobriety test lead officers to believe he was operating under the influence. During the arrest, a plastic bag containing a white powder was found which contained the powerful opioid carfentanil. The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department says the arrest may have prevented a potentially deadly overdose. Formal drug charges are pending and it the incident remains under investigation.
