Work on Quay Street in Downtown Port Huron is underway. The $3.3 million project began yesterday and will be completed in three phases to minimize the impact on area businesses. The first phase includes the demolition and total rebuild of Quay between Michigan and Merchant Street, which is currently closed to through traffic. The second phase, planned to begin this summer, will be for Michigan between Quay and McMorran. The third and final phase, expected to be completed this fall, will be for a block of Quay street between Huron and Michigan. Included in the project is additional angle parking spaces along Michigan Street, the removal of traffic lights along Michigan Street at both Grand River and McMorran avenues, and rebuilding of water and sewer infrastructure.
