The City of Port Huron will soon provide a police officer to help patrol the campus of St. Clair County Community College under a new agreement reached between the city and SC4. According to Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp, the agreement calls for one officer to become a college resource officer and be stationed at SC4’s Port Huron Campus. The officer will be available to help with issues on campus with the college covering most of the costs for the program. The resource officer will also be available to help with major events and assist the Port Huron Police Department when needed.  Also at this past Monday’s city council meeting, a first reading of a rezoning ordinance was held for a property in the 900 block of Oak Street. The parcel, currently zoned residential, is expected to be rezoned to commercial for an new, larger Party Express convenience store with attached gas station. Repp says the ordinance is expected to be enacted at the city’s June 24th regular session meeting.
