Harbor Beach Power Plant sold

A former DTE Energy power plant in the Thumb has been sold to a development company. According to DTE, the 85 acre Harbor Beach Power Plant Site has been sold to Commercial Liability Partners of St. Louis, Missouri.  “We are excited about the partnership with DTE Energy and the opportunities available at the Harbor Beach Power Plant site,” said Ron Froh, CEO and president of Commercial Liability Partners, in a statement to WPHM. “We look forward to working closely with city officials and community stakeholders as we enter the initial phase of the demolition and remediation portion at the site.” Commercial Liability Partners will be responsible for all abatement and demolition of the plant and will be meeting with local officials Huron County in the coming weeks to discuss potential plans for the site. The coal fired plant was built in 1968 and was last active in 2013.
