St. Clair County officials have declared a local state of emergency for residents in the southern end of the county affected by flooding. The declaration was made by Jeff Bohm, Chairman of the County Board of Commissioners on Friday. According to the Office of Emergency Management, flooding due to high water levels has affected many down river residents – especially in the Algonac, Harsens Island, and Clay Township areas. The declaration of a state of emergency means St. Clair County could receive financial assistance from the State of Michigan to help with recovery efforts. Those who have any property damage due to the flooding are encouraged to report it to the Office of Emergency Management, by calling 989-6392 or by email at damage@stclaircounty.org.
