The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the drowning of a 78-year-old man. Deputies were called to the 700 block of Lakeshore Drive in Deerfield Township around
8:30 last Thursday when the man’s wife reported that he had gone to do some work in a barn on the property and didn’t return. Authorities found footprints on the couple’s
dock to Barnes Lake. Deputies discovered the man’s body in five feet of water two houses away. No foul play is suspected.
