One injured in Lapeer County weekend stabbing

A Lapeer County man is recovering from stabbing wounds following an alleged assault over the weekend. According to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office, a 44 year old North Branch man reportedly broke into a home in Lapeer County’s Mayfiled Township and proceeded to assault the 20 year old home owner. It is alleged that the 44 year old intruder obtained a lawn chair and struck the 20 year old man multiple times. The 20 year old then stabbed the man in the chest with a kitchen knife. He was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment. Officials believe the altercation was surrounding the 44 year old man’s 16 year old son who was at the Mayfield Township Residence. Authorities say the case remains under investigation and that it will be presented to the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
