It’s a renewed push to expand the customs plaza on the Port Huron side of the Blue Water Bridge. Approximately $25 million  in federal grants have been awarded to the Michigan Department of Transportation to help complete the customs plaza expansion project that has been over a decade in the making. According to 10th district congressman Paul Mitchell, the grants come from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Infrastructure for Rebuilding America program. “I am hopeful that after waiting more than 10 years this project can finally be built to benefit our economy, transportation systems, and national security.” Mitchell says state officials have committed to providing matching funds and that it will be up to MDOT to take the next steps.
