St. Clair County’s next sheriff has been named. Captain Mat King has been appointed interim Sheriff to fulfill the rest of outgoing Sheriff Tim Donnellon’s term. Donnellon stepped down from the Sheriff’s office November 8th to accept a position with the Michigan Gaming Control Board. King was selected interim Sheriff by a board consisting of the county prosecutor, probate judge, and county clerk. King will shed the “interim” title come the new year, as he was elected St. Clair County Sheriff in last week’s general election. His four year term set to begin January 1st, 2021.
