Bars and restaurants will be allowed to resume dining room service starting Monday February 1st. A new Michigan Department of Health and Human Services epidemic order allows indoor dining at restaurants with certain requirements, concessions at casinos, movie theaters and stadiums, and and non-residential gatherings of up to 10 people from two households. Bars and restaurants have been closed to indoor service since Governor Whtimer announced a three-week “pause” in November that has been subsequently extended. In a Friday morning press conference, Whitmer stated that the pause has worked, citing declining numbers of COVID-19 cases, deaths, and hospital occupancy. Restaurants and bars will be allowed to reopen at 25% capacity with up to 100 people. Tables must be six feet apart with no more than six people per table  and outdoor dining will be permitted using the same rules. There will also be a curfew enacted, with all bars and restaurants ordered closed by 10 pm. The orders will be in effect until Sunday, February 21st.
