Port Huron Police say two separate crashes just hours apart from each other in Port Huron injured a total of three people Saturday.

Shortly after 7pm, a vehicle attempting to cross the 10th Street Bridge struck a signal post for the bridge causing a fire to break out in the vehicle. The driver, a 24 year old from Port Huron, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. According to Lieutenant Nick Godwin, witnesses stated that the victim was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Police further stated to WPHM that the driver could have had a medical incident. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Then around 9:15pm Port Huron Police responded to a crash in which a motorcycle struck a pedestrian on Pine Grove Avenue near Holland. Lieutenant Godwin stated that the pedestrian was crossing the road and was struck by the motorcyclist, injuring both individuals. Police tell WPHM that the crash appears to be accidental and that the pedestrian was not crossing the street at a designated crosswalk. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown.
