Marysville teacher faces multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct

A Marysville High School teacher has plead not guilty to a series of criminal sexual conduct charges. 52 year old Steven Rogers of Marysville was arraigned yesterday afternoon in St. Clair County District Court. He is charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first, second, and third degrees. Rogers has been placed on administrative leave from Marysville Public Schools.

A teacher in the Marysville Public School District is will not be returning to the classroom when school resumes next week after criminal charges were filed against him by the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office. According to a letter sent to staff and parents yesterday by Superintendent Dr. Shawn Wightman, the unidentified staff member is a male high school teacher, and has has been placed on administrative leave. Wightman says the district is cooperating with local authorities and declined to comment further on the case.
