Local man dies in UP snowmobile crash

A man from St. Clair County’s Kenockee Township has died after a snowmobile crash Tuesday afternoon in the eastern Upper Peninsula. 59 year old Dean Daggett was driving a snowmobile southbound on Schoolhouse Road in Mackinac County’s Moran Township when he struck a logging truck navigating a blind curve. Michigan State Police Troopers from the St. Ignace post say Daggett, the lone occupant of the snowmobile, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The truck driver was not injured and the incident remains under investigation.

Note: In previous versions of this story the victim was identified as being 60 years old. According to the most recent press release, he was 59.
