The St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Commission is in the process of moving headquarters. Director Nancy Winzer says her office will move from the County Administration Building in Port Huron to the Garden Center at Goodells County Park. Speaking to WPHM, Winzer says the department’s operations are based out of Goodells, and this would put the entire staff in one location.

“It’s keeping us central,” said Winzer. “The staff is very excited about it, we’ll be able to bounce ideas off each other and serve the public better.” County Commissioners last month approved up to $40,000 for renovations to the Garden Center in order to house the new offices.

Winzer also says she is seeking several grants to help improve several county parks. During Thursday’s county commission meeting, she submitted the requests for Goodells, Columbus, and the new North Channel County Park. Winzer says the grant for North Channel County Park near Algonac will be for the construction of initial structures, parking lot, and trailhead.
