Several downriver St. Clair County Communities now have new tornado warning sirens as part of a effort by the St. Clair County Board of Commissioners and department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. The total of fifteen sirens were placed in China, Casco, Cottrellville, and Clay Townships with an additional siren being placed at Columbus County Park in Columbus Township. All sirens are in service and now operational. They will be tested on the first Monday of month at 1pm along with the rest of St. Clair County’s outdoor warning sirens. The project was funded largely in part to American Rescue Plan Act funding and was lead by 7th district County Commissioner Dave Vandenbossche.
