Canadian border officials say nearly 850 pounds (385 kilograms) of suspected cocaine were seized during a commercial truck inspection at the Blue Water Bridge.
The Canada Border Services Agency says officers referred a commercial truck entering Canada through the Point Edward port of entry for a secondary inspection on August 13, where they discovered and seized the suspected drugs.
The truck’s driver was taken into custody at the scene. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have charged the individual with importing a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking under Canada’s Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The RCMP is continuing the investigation.
