Graduation rates rise across Michigan

Graduation rates in Michigan high schools has reached a milestone. The Michigan Center for Educational Performance and Information says more than 80% of students graduated last year. That’s a slight increase from last year. State Schools Superintendent Brian Whiston says part of the reason for the improvement is that districts are practicing early intervention and working to stop chronic absenteeism. Whiston adds an 80 percent statewide graduation rate is a new watermark for schools, but more schools have to keep working and moving forward.
