Chris Pratt has artfully been able to avoid publicly speaking on his divorce from Anna Faris… that is, until recently.
Back in August of 2017, the couple announced that their split via a joint statement posted to social media. The statement has since been removed from Pratt’s Instagram account but can still be found on Faris’. It read, “We tried hard for a really long time and we’re really disappointed.”
Over the last couple of years, both of their stardom began to rise, especially Pratt’s. He booked the Jurassic reboots, and the starring role in Guardians of the Galaxy introducing him to the Marvel filming madness. On the other hand, Faris was writing a book, producing her podcast, worked on some movies and was gearing up for another season of her sit-com style show, “Mom.” With their conflicting schedules, they still both had one thing in common, parenting Jack Pratt, 5.
The statement continued to read, “Our son has two parents that love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.” The full statement is below.
Since announcing their split, Faris has actually been very open about her experience. She talks about it briefly in her book, “Unqualified,” and has chatted about it on her podcast. On the flip side, Pratt has been filming for both Jurassic World and Infinity War, so he has been able to avoid addressing his divorce. Now, filming is done and these films are getting ready to hit theaters which puts Pratt back in the spotlight. He got his first taste at the questions he will be getting asked during his interview for Entertainment Weekly‘s Summer Movie Preview edition.
To put it simply he said, “Divorce sucks.”
He continued to say, “But at the end of the day, we’ve got a great kid who’s got two parents who love him very much. And we’re finding a way to navigate this while still remaining friends and still being kind to one another. ” It sounds like they are both trying to make the best out of the situation. They were the first split that started the domino Hollywood divorce trail, most recently hitting Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan.
The ex-couple are amicably seeking joint custody of Jack. In December 2017, Pratt officially filed for divorce and Faris only took a couple days to file her response.
“It’s not ideal, but yeah, I think both of us are actually probably doing better,” Pratt said. Current speculation says Pratt is single while Faris is now dating the cinematographer, Michael Barrett.
