Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies suspect alcohol to be involved in an car verses semi crash on M-53 near Marlette early this morning. Authorities say the driver of a semi tractor trailer called 911 around 1am this morning to report a collision with a car that veered into its path. The investigation determined the 26 year old truck driver from Florida was traveling northbound on Van Dyke when a southbound Chrysler 300 crossed the center line. The car, driven by a 24 year old Marlette woman with a 65 year old male passenger, was struck on the driver’s side by the truck’s tires. The occupants of the Chrysler 300 sustained injuries and were transported to Marlette Hospital for treatment. Alcohol use by the Marlette woman is considered to be a factor in the accident.
