Sexual orientation and identity protected in City Manager’s order

Port Huron City Manager James Freed has signed a directive including sexual orientation into the city’s Equal Opportunity Employment and Harassment Policy. The city manager stated, “This directive will ensure that the City of Port Huron is not only a safe place to work, but a welcoming and inclusive environment for all those who seek opportunity.” On Tuesday, Freed signed the Administrative Directive which includes protections of discrimination and harassment on the basis of sexual preference, orientation, and identity. City department heads were also on hand at yesterday’s event. The directive will take place immediately.
