As the bulldozers and backhoes sit idle at many road construction sites across Michigan, the governor’s office says the state is talking to both side in hopes of ending
a lockout. A spokesman for Governor Snyder says the state is attempting to help build a framework for an agreement that will get everyone back to work. Contractors with the
Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association locked out workers from Operating Engineers 324 earlier this month. The union has said it will not meet with
Association executives but will meet with the contractors. The Governor’s office says it has not had time to review the request.
