A slight gain in Michigan’s unemployment rate in December. Figures from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget show the rate rose one tenth of a percentage point to 4.0 percent. At the same time, the U.S rate declined by two-tenths of a percentage point to 3.9 percent. The December rate is still an improvement over December of 2017 when Michigan’s unemployment rate stood at 4.7 percent.
