The rumors were confirmed! Lady Gaga will be taking up residency in Las Vegas at the MGM Park Theater. She will follow legacies like Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin.
However, Gaga is still finishing up her Joanne World Tour so the residency won’t begin for another year. Come December 2018 you can expect a show covering an extensive set of repertoire, expanding from “Just Dance” to “Joanne.”
“It’s the land of Elvis, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, the Rat Pack, Elton John, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli. It has been a life-long dream of mine to play Las Vegas. I am humbled to be a part of a historical line-up of performers, and to have the honor of creating a new show unlike anything Vegas has ever seen before,” said Gaga in a statement after the announcement.
The rumors are true! I will have my own residency at MGM’s Park Theater. Get ready for a brand new show!! It’s been my lifelong dream to be a Las Vegas girl, I’m so overjoyed! LOVE YOU LITTLE MONSTERS WE DID IT, MEET ME IN Las Vegas!! #LasVegasGoesGaga pic.twitter.com/UhPdW5wgXu

The president of MGM Resorts International, James Joseph Murren, made a statement about why Gaga is the next holder of the coveted Vegas residency. “We have all been wowed by Lady Gaga’s raw talent, but the passion, commitment and creativity she is prepared to bring to this engagement will truly
be transformational…Las Vegas, get ready to become the Entertainment Capital of the Universe,” said Murren.
The Super Bowl 2017 performer’s residency is scheduled to last for two years initially. “I’ll tell you exactly what I told my MGM and Park Theater partners: You can count on this performer always for one thing…I’ll leave my heart on the stage every single night,” says Gaga.
Her album “Joanne” and a song off the album, “A Million Reasons” were nominated for this year’s Grammy’s. “This is a day to truly celebrate lots of hard work, perseverance & gratitude through music,” she tweeted.
In one last note to her ‘Little Monsters’ she said, “Thank you to my fans for always believing in me. Meet me in Las Vegas, baby, we did it!”
