Gas prices continue to fall across Michigan

A news survey from AAA Michigan shows that for the fifth consecutive week, the statewide average weekly gas price has decreased at least six cents or more from the previous week. That leaves the current statewide average at $2.49 per gallon, about six cents less than last week’s average and about a $1.09 less than this same time last year. The same is true for drivers in Metro Detroit, as their average weekly gas price has decreased at least five cents or more from the previous week. The current Metro Detroit average is about $2.52 per gallon, about seven cents less than last week and about a $1.02 less than this same time last year. Of the cities surveyed by AAA the lowest average price for self-serve unleaded fuel can be found in the Benton Harbor area, where it’s about $2.40 per gallon. The highest average price can be found in the Traverse City area, where it’s about $2.58 a gallon.
