Port Huron Area Schools will likely have one less building soon according to School Superintendent Jamie Cain. The board approved the sale worth $140,000 last night during their regular meeting. Port Huron schools are also partnering with the Michigan Department of Education to Promote a Positive School Climate using grant funding to implement a 3-5 year systematic approach to behavior for students and schools that will set a tone in each building, with adults and their behavior being the model for students. 5 behavior interventionists will be working with schools in the district to promote Positive Behavior to improve attendance and reduce dropout, suspension, and expulsion rates in the district. Cain noted, for students to learn it must be a safe environment, and orderly behavior is part of that environment.
