The Port Huron Police K-9 Unit will soon have a new dog joining the force. The addition is made possible by a $25,000 donation by Dorothea Knight, who had already donated $50,000 towards the K-9 Unit. Knight's first donation of $50,000 will be used to purchase two new vehicles to transport the K-9's, outfitted with the latest technology to make sure the dogs and their handlers are safe. Also city residents will have a little more time to pay their water bills. The city recently decided to extend the due date from 15 to 22 days; to help residents from incurring penalties due to late water bills. Those changes take effect on December 1st. The council also received a notice from Port Huron Township on the possible approval of a "Specially designated Merchant's distributor's establishment" for a Medical Marijuana growth and distributors facility proposed for Dove Road. That meeting will be held at 3800 Lapeer Road, on December 3rd, at 7:00pm.
