This holiday season the American Red Cross urges people to give a blood or platelet donation. Blood donors with all types, especially O negative, B negative and A negative are urged to give. Platelet donors and those with type AB blood are continually needed. A blood donor card, drivers license or two other forms of identification are required at check in. There are also fewer blood drives on the calender this year, mostly due to sponsoring groups postponing blood drives because of holiday activities. Because more than 80 percent of blood donations are made at blood drives, organizations are needed to host drives this winter.
