I think every kid in the history of ever with nostrils and fingers has done what we as adults consider unthinkable: eaten their own boogers. It’s a habit parents have culled in the best of their offspring, but it turns out that they might have been wrong all these years. Apparently, we should be encouraging children to eat their nose gold!

I know, I know. But hear me out!
The Independent posted an article about a week ago that caused us to do a double take. We’re suppose to be eating the contents of our nose? And it’s especially good for kids?! It might go against everything your mom told you growing up, but the science is there! It’s all about the salivary mucins, which is the stuff in nose gold that forms a barrier against cavity-causing bacteria. It’s actually so beneficial to children that researchers are works on ways to create synthetic mucus for gum and toothpaste. Adult should get in on this, too! There might be further evidence that it could defend against respiratory infection, stomach ulcers and even HIV. Austrian lung specialist Prof Friedrich Bischinger believes people who pick their noses are healthy, happier and probably better in tune with their bodies than others. The good professor says that the nose filters all sorts of bad stuff for us, and when the contents are distributed to our intestines (A.K.A. – We harvest our nose crop), it acts just like medicine.

So THAT’S how LeBron got so good at basketball!
So, it turns out your should be making sure your child eats all their vegetables AND boogers!
