Police Get a Drunk Guy Home & Take a Selfie with His Phone

Tasmanian Reece Parker will be the first to admit that he went a little harder than he should have over the weekend. He woke up Sunday morning with no recollection of how he made it home after a night of partying! Looking for clues, he went through his phone hoping there was a message or a photo that would shed some light on the situation. That’s when he found this gem:

Think the kids would get it if I made a “Candid Camera” joke?

This amazing selfie was brought to you by Tasmania Police Constables Natalie Siggins and Jeremy Blyth. Turns out that they were called to by a taxi driver who reported having a customer who’d had a bit too much to drink.  “We got called to a taxi,” Officer Blyth told local news. “[He] was a little bit unresponsive, didn’t know where he lived. He wasn’t saying much so we tried to locate where he was. We were lucky enough to figure out his address.” Going above and beyond, they made sure Reece got home and even waited while a friend to get there before leaving. Officer Siggins added that it was “all part of the service and making sure everyone gets home safe.”

The constables assumed (correctly) that Reece wouldn’t recollect how he managed to get home, so they left him the selfie to help jog his memory. He was quick to post it on his Facebook page, and the Australian story quickly went viral!

The Tasmania Police took advantage of the attention to make their own Facebook post, informing a global audience about the importance of having a plan to get home safely after a night of drinking.

Here’s to these amazing officers that made this selfie possible! Always awesome to hear cool cops stories!
