In Farmington Hills, located just outside of Detroit, you will find not one, but two, world record-breaking felines residing together with their adoptive parents, Dr. Will and Lauren Powers. Let’s take a look at the team.
This is Arcturus Aldebaran Powers.

He holds the Guinness World Record for tallest domestic cat, coming in at 19.1, but he now is over 20 inches. Arcturus weighs about 30 pounds, a healthy weight for a F2B Savannah cat. Want more of Arcturus? You can follow him on Instagram: @starcats_detroit
Also residing in the Power’s Residence: Cygnus Regulus Powers.
Cygnus is holding the Guinness record for longest tail on a domestic cat. His tail received the record at 17.5 inches. Cygnus is a Silver Maine Coon cat.
The crazy thing about both of the Powers’ cats is that they are still growing! The cats are both about two years old and will keep growing until they are three or five years old. They will be able to continue to update their Guinness record. All the cats will has are named after stars. His first two shelter cats were Sirius Altair and Regulus Rigel. “We adopted Arcturus Aldebaran to be an emissary for the shelter,” said Dr. Powers to WBTI. Soon after he adopted Arcturus, Regulus passed away. When they adopted Cygnus, they decided to honor his predecessor by giving him the middle, Regulus.
The couple wanted to make their record official to raise awareness for the Ferndale Cat Shelter. Dr. Will Powers is President of Ferndale Cat Shelter and his cats have already raised thousands of dollars for the charity already. A lot of people ask Will why he has two purebreds when he is president of a cat shelter. “Half the cats in our house were shelter cats,” says Dr. Powers. They got Arcturus and Cygnus to help keep the shelter afloat through donations. When people want to take a picture with their cats, they ask for a donation for the shelter.
