Taylor Swift has just dropped her second music video for a song off of her upcoming album, Reputation. The first video she released, “Look What You Made Me Do,” announced the death of the old Taylor. What does the “…Ready For It?” video have in store for us?
A Sci-fi robot fighting adventure of cool weaponry and nearly-naked Taylor. Honestly, you just have to watch it.
While the video is set up like the coolest live-action anime feature you’ve ever seen, lyrically, fans have been debating about the content of the song. Taylor never officially reveals who her songs are about, but most super-fans have come to an agreement that this song is about current boyfriend, Joe Alwyn because of these lyrics:
“Some boys are tryin’ too hard, he don’t try at all though
Younger than my exes, but he act like such a man, so
I see nothing better, I keep him forever”
They have been together for the last year and it’s the youngest boyfriend she has had. Alwyn is 26 and Swift is 27.
This video tells a different story and the biggest question this writer has is… why are there SO MANY TAYLORS in the videos of this new Swift era? At the end of this video she appears to defeat another version of herself.
