Husband Plans Amazing Birthday Scavenger Hunt

Husband of co-host for “Conrad & Kacie” went above and beyond for Kacie Kelly’s birthday.

 

We already knew Sam Kozman was great. He frequently stops by the studio in the morning to bring Kacie coffee or donuts for the office but THIS takes the cake. She was told she was to go straight home from work on Wednesday, the day before her birthday. Then she was told that he wouldn’t be there for the surprise and she was to document the process.

 

She got home to find a single note that read, “Open me” on the front. A clue was printed onto card stock. It reads:

 “Follow the instructions on each clue

To find where something is waiting for you.

There are items for you along the way

That will make you smile on your day,

Some are in the house and others far,

There is even one at a bar.

The first one is just to warm up,

To cook this, you might use a measuring cup.”

He even provided peel off hints, which Kacie used for the first clue after tearing through the entire kitchen. The clue gave it away. “You eat this every night.” She’s a creature of habit and frequently eats oatmeal. Inside her container of steel cut oats was clue #2!

“Gift #1 is on our bed, Under where you lay your head,” read the second clue. There she found a wrapped gift. It was a new dress with another clue attached. She went throughout the house finding gifts here and there that had been hidden in her things while she was at work that morning. She finally found a clue that had instructions for her to leave the house. Behind a photo of her and her father was clue #6 that read:

 “This is something I thought would be fun,

Go on a date with Kenzie at 1:00!

She’s expecting you

and she has your next clue.” 

He even provided money for the date. She picked up her friend from her work and she received clue #7. This clue gave instructions that lead to a little adventure.

“This one is in the sand by a tree

Near the fence of our dogs favorite beach.

Hopefully it can be found,

To be sure there is pink tape near the ground.”

Sam tied pink tape to the next clue and buried it deep into the sand. After digging, the next clue was found. This one led her to a statue of Thomas Edison which had a clue stuck to his hand. After a string of more clues, she ended up back home to find an important clue under her dog’s bed. This one had part of receipt telling her to check out Register 4 at Best Buy.

She received another gift at this stop. A rose gold colored Apple watch. She thought the hunt was over until the cashier handed her another clue! How could their possibly be more? The final clue read:

“There is still one more to go

It’s waiting for you at the restaurant named after big boats.”

It had to be this taproom by the river, Freighters Eatery & Taproom. She headed there next. She walked up to the establishment unsure why she was there. There were no clues tapped to the outside and she didn’t recognize anything as a sign for her.

She walked inside to find the same thing. No clues and no further instructions. She was getting ready to ask the bartender and bystanders if they had a clue for her. Before that could happen she was greeted by her cousin who was in from Louisiana and her mom in town from Kentucky. A wonderful and completely unexpected surprise! The perfect way to end the hunt! The next day, Kacie was surprised with a visit from her college roommate who drove 7 hours to come see her. “I thought my surprises were over after that, surely!” said Kacie. The following day they drove around and landed at Dave n’  Busters for a couple hours. When they got back home, she walked into yet ANOTHER surprise. Check out the video below.
