One way to make your costume unique is to pair up with someone! Don’t have a significant other? That’s what BFF’s are for. Here are some couple costume ideas that are sure to not have you seeing double at a party. Grab your partner and suit up in one of these great ideas!
1) Cruella De Vil and Horace
Can never go wrong with a Disney classic! And what’s great about this Disney duo is that it’s not a common one! You can probably find a Cruella costume in stores, but Horace will be a DIY project. You can get this look from a tutorial done by Your Homebased Mom.
Your run of the mill Cruella costume is about $40 on Amazon.
2) Phil and Lil
This is a great costume because it’s one that works whether your a couple or not! This costume is bound to not be seen at your party since it’s a blast from the past. Your young ones might not know what you are but every Gen X and millenial will. Grab your brother, boyfriend, or best friend for this cost effective costume you can build at home.
Here is what you’ll need:
Blue tank dress $13
Frill socks $ 5-10
Use felt from any craft store or Walmart for the duck. $5
Use white duct tape for the name labels or go without them!
3) Bob and Linda
This one is incredibly easy to do because you likely already own some of the gear you’ll need. Not only is it easy but it’s unlikely you’ll run into another Bob and Linda that night. You probably already each own some jeans and comfortable shoes that will work with the outfit. Assuming your guy owns a plain white undershirt of sorts, that only leaves a couple items to pick up to complete the look.
Red shirt: $7
Red glasses: $10
Apron 2 pack: $10
4) Bob Ross and a Happy Little Tree
This one is possibly a little more effort than the previous ones but definitely a unique one! Bob Ross is iconic and so are his “happy little trees.” Turn these famous moment into a costume and enjoy all the conversations it will start at the party you’re attending.
4 pieces of felt: $5 at a susperstore.
Sewing machine: A friend or your mother may have one! No luck? A Sewing kit to stitch by hand runs about $7 at most convenience stores.
Sharpie marker: Time to check the junk drawer at home or borrow one from work!
One fall branch limb from Hobby Lobby or any craft store: (It was all 40% off this week.) Or check out some on Amazon.
Cardboard: Check your recycling… or your neighbors!
Paint/ nail polish/ paint pens: You probably have this at home!
Paint brush: $2
Jeans, blue button down, brown belt: Your guy may already have these items so give it a check first to save money! Surely he owns jeans and a belt!)

5) Patti Mayonnaise and Doug Funny
This couple is famous for 90’s babies. You might have to explain this one to the kiddos but it’s perfect for any adult party. Since they aren’t THE famous 90’s couple, you won’t see duplicates of this one. This is another easy to DIY costume that is probably cheaper than a bag costume from the store and most of these things you could wear again! Here is what you need:
Yellow wig: $6
Light blue top: Make sure this isn’t already in your closet! $7
Blue skirt: $14
Pink felt: $5 (make sure you have a glue gun or some way to attach it to the shirt)
khaki shorts: Likely in your guy’s closet. If not, it’s worth investing in a real pair of these!
Match with your shoe of choice and maybe some frill socks for Patti!
6) Sarah and Winifred Sanderson
The infamous Sanderson sisters! Everyone LOVES the iconic Halloween film, Hocus Pocus. But everyone assumes because it’s so iconic that maybe they shouldn’t dress up as these witches for Halloween. WRONG! I’ve literally never seen this done by more than one person a year. This one would be much harder to DIY and is worth going bag-costume for.
They run about $50 a piece depending on where you go.

The shark costume: Official left shark: $70
OR
Shark onsie: $30
White dress: $12
Multi color either buy fabric or felt: Price will vary depending on how you decide to purchase this. Since it’s such a small amount, we suggest hitting an actual craft store where they can measure it out and charge you appropriately rather than buying in bulk online.
