People Thought Christian Bale was Pulling a Madonna with his Accent

At this year’s Golden Globe Awards, Christian Bale took home the award for “Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy,” and during his acceptance speech, weirded-out some viewers with his accent.

While giving his acceptance speech he sported a british accent which turned some heads and instantly sent people to Twitter to vent. Apparently half the United States forgot Christian Bale is in fact, not from this country.

He was born in Haverfordwest, United Kingdom in 1974. He moved around quite a bit in his younger days, residing in Wales, Surrey and Dorset in England.

Bale is known for his method acting. losing a ridiculous amount of weight and quickly putting it back on for roles like The Machinist and Batman. Another part of his method acting is his ability to flow between accents seamlessly for different roles. At this point in his career he has been in so many American films that the average American completely forgot where his career started until they saw him out of character at this year’s Golden Globes.

Even ESPN Reporter, Michele Steele tweeted, “Christian Bale has an English accent?”

While most seemed surprised, others seemed amused everyone else didn’t know.

“Christian Bale does so many American roles that when he speaks in his natural accent it just sounds like he’s making fun of British people,” said a tweet.
