Eight liquor licensees hope to participate in new social district

Port Huron City Council will take the next steps to approve social districts during a special session meeting Tuesday evening. City Council will be asked to approve applications for eight initial businesses who wish to offer to-go alcoholic beverages for consumption outdoors downtown. The bars include Casey’s Pizza and Subs, Martina’s Grill, Raven Cafe, Lynch’s Irish Tavern, City Flats Hotel, McMorran Place, Vintage Tavern, and Wings Etc. Last week, the city of Port Huron received the okay from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission to move forward with the social district plan, The recently passed state law states that local governments must approve which establishments can participate in the district. Port Huron City Council scheduled to approve or deny those applications during their 5pm special session meeting tonight at the Municipal office center.
