Outstanding water bills for about 700 low income Port Huron families will be paid thanks to State of Michigan COVID-19 relief funds. Port Huron City Manager James Freed says the city will be receiving just over $152,000 dollars to pay off 708 delinquent water and sewer bills. Many of the outstanding bills had totals nearing $1000. Data from the Food Assistance Bridge Card program was used to determine who can qualify. An additional $75,000 dollars has been set aside for those who don’t qualify for the program but still need utility assistance. That money is available through the Community Action Agency.
