COVID-19 resurgence prompts government office closures

Local units of government are closing their doors to the public once again do to rising cases of the coronavirus.

The St. Clair County Treasurer’s and Veteran’s affairs departments will be closed to the public, with all tax payments being collected online. All veterans services will be conducted by phone and documents can be sent in the mail or by using the drop box at the county offices.

The St. Clair County Animal Control will be issuing pet licenses by mail or online online only, and animal adoptions will be offered by appointment only.

Libraries in St. Clair County have closed to in person service. As of Wednesday, libraries have to a curbside pickup model only. Library patrons are asked to reserve a book by visiting They can then pick up their orders at one of the 11 branch locations.

Courts in St. Clair County will remain open only with essential matters conducted. Several court offices are closed to the public however staff can still be reached by phone or email.

Fort Gratiot Township will be closing their governmental offices to the public, with residents being encouraged to conduct township business by phone, mail or, their website,

The Port Huron Municipal Office Center remains open at this time. Residents of other municipalities are encouraged to check ahead of time before conducting business at their local government.
