The St. Clair County Sheriff’s office is warning residents in the downriver area about a rash of recent of break ins. Deputies say they responded to numerous reports of items stolen from vehicles during the overnight hours of Sunday. Sheriff Mat King says the reports came in from residents along River Road in China Township, Hathaway Street in in East China Township, and South River Pointe Lane and Scott B. Drive in St. Clair Township. King also says a home invasion was reported at a home on St. Clair Highway in China Township resulting in numerous items stolen, including two handguns. The Sheriff’s office urges all residents to lock their vehicles at all times and anybody with information on the thefts is asked to call the Sheriff’s office at 987-1733.
