Two corrections deputies have been commended for saving the life of an inmate at the St. Clair County Jail. Deputies Richard Rodriguez and Kent Porter are credited with thwarting an inmate’s suicide attempt in late October. The deputies noticed an inmate climbing over a railing on the second floor of the jail’s housing unit. They were able to pull the man down before he could harm himself. Sheriff Mat King presented the two deputies with a lifesaving award yesterday.
