A tractor-trailer hauling trash from Canada is responsible for the closure of westbound lanes of I-94 near Ravenswood Road yesterday morning. According to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s office, the driver of the truck heard a tire pop and started to slow down when he noticed smoke and fire coming from the right side of the trailer. He disconnected the trailer and was able to pull forward a safe distance. Fire crews from Kimball, Port Huron, and Clyde Townships assisted in putting out the blaze. There were no injuries reported and it is unknown what caused the trailer to catch fire. Westbound I-94 was closed approximately 4 and 8am yesterday morning.
