An early morning crash in Downtown Port Huron resulted in minor damage to city property and a suspect being taken into custody. Lieutenant Nick Godwin of the Port Huron Police Department tells WPHM it happened shortly after 5am Thursday when the suspect was driving his vehicle on Huron Avenue. The suspect first drove over the curb and onto the east sidewalk, then traveled to the west sidewalk and struck a fire hydrant. The suspect is described as a 35 year old Burtchville Township resident who was not injured in the crash. Godwin adds that there doesn’t appear to have been any damage to downtown buildings and  the suspect is believed to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.
