Port Huron philanthropist James Acheson dies

A longtime community benefactor, Dr. James C. Acheson, has died. The grandson of the founder of Port Huron-based Acheson Colloids, he may be best know for his efforts to redevelop the south side of Port Huron as chairman and president of Acheson Ventures. He was also chairman and founder of the Dr. James C. Acheson Foundation. Acheson Ventures has confirmed to WPHM that he passed away Sunday morning in Florida at the age of 87. Funeral arrangements for James Acheson have not yet been announced.
